Michael Bradley

Michael Bradley was born in County Louth, Ireland in 1946. He came to Britain and became apprenticed to George Todd at Manton.

He rode his first winner when aged 19 on his sixth ride in public, aboard Rockamour, owned and trained by Todd, in the Falmer Apprentice Stakes at Brighton on August 5, 1965.

He rode three winners from just 11 mounts the following season, all of them on Bradfield, who was also owned and trained by Todd, in apprentice races at Bath, Ascot and Lingfield.

Michael’s fifth and last winner came on 2-1 favourite Gaudy Commodore in the Long Distance Apprentices’ Selling Handicap at Sandown on April 28, 1967. It was one of 13 mounts he had that year. He did not take out a professional jockey’s licence once his apprenticeship came to an end.
