Derek Brown

Derek Lawrence Brown was born on June 7, 1961, and lived at 2, Warditch Cottage, Whitsbury, Fordingbridge, Hants.

As an apprentice, he served five years with Mick Masson, one year with Stand Mellor and two years with David Elsworth.

His first winner came on Azd at Brighton on May 28, 1981.

Derek turned professional in June, 1985, and his first winner in that status came on Floyd in the White House Hurdle at Newbury on July 19 that year.

His best season came in 1985 with 5 winners.

Derek won the Queen's Prize at Kempton.

His recreations included reading, jogging, dinning out & cooking.
