Leslie Arthur Bloomfield, of Listock Farm, Kilve, near Bridgwater, was born on December 13, 1962.
He served a three-year apprenticeship with David Barons and rode his first winner, Brooks Law, (10/1) on February 25, 1982.
Leslie's day in the sun came on Wednesday, March 16, 1983, when riding Mr Peapock to victory in the Mildmay of Flete Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
