Desmond Brian Briscoe, born on January 30,1943, served his time with Harvey Leader and, having ridden no winners on the Flat as an apprentice, scored his first win on Chu-Teh at Leicester on February 15, 1965.
He was then aged 22.
He won the 1967 Otley Hurdle on Chenonceaux.
