Neil Adams
Article by Alan Trout
Neil Adams rode under National Hunt rules for five seasons but recorded just one victory.
Associated with the Cheltenham stable of Bob Hartopp, he had his first ride when tailed off on Cool Count in the Peter Marsh National Hunt Flat Race at Worcester on April 21, 1979.
His sole success came at Uttoxeter on September 18, 1980, when Kassa, trained by Bob Hartopp, was a comfortable winner of the Hoar Cross Handicap Hurdle, challenging for the lead at the last flight and running on to beat Blood Orange by six lengths. Neil kept the ride but was not placed in five subsequent starts.
He had few further chances and had his last ride at Towcester on January 5, 1983, when Sandboy was sixth of nine finishers in the Longwater Novices’ Hurdle (Division 2).
