Matthew Almond

Matthew Almond served his apprenticeship with William Jarvis and rode horses for his uncle, Mr Pierce, who was one of Jarvis's patrons. On leaving Jarvis's employment he went into John Watson's stable and frequently rode in trials.

Matthew was with Mr Jack Jarvis, son of his first employer, when he died in December 1929. He was buried at Newmarket Cemetery on Saturday, 21 December.
