Chris Broad

Chris Broad was born on August 23, 1955. He began his racing career with trainer Johnny Haine, the former top National Hunt jockey, based at Haresfield, Gloucestershire.

Chris registered his first success aboard Hello Sailor, trained by Haine, in a Wolverhampton selling hurdle on February 12, 1977. He subsequently rode for Upper Lambourn trainer Pat Taylor.

He began training in 1989, based at Tudor Stables, Westbury-on-Severn. He had his final ride in public in a ‘Golden Oldies’ National Hunt Flat Race at Sedgefield on September 28, 1994, finishing sixth of the eleven runners on Sir Mark Prescott’s gelding Limited Liability.

Chris gave up training in 1996 and is now a highly successful and respected jockeys’ agent with around 30 jockeys on his books.
