Hailsham-based amateur Oliver Benn was born on July 13, 1938, and enjoyed his greatest moment in the saddle when winning the Wills Premier Chase on Fair Nicola at Kempton Park on 18 October 1969.
His first winner had come at Huntingdon riding Port O'Christo on Easter Monday (March 27) 1967.
The best horse he rode was Fair Nicola.
