Harry ‘Tubby’ Aylin first caught the public eye when landing a double at Alexandra Park on Saturday 3 August, 1901. He won the Municipal Handicap by a neck on Branksome before winning the Harringay Selling Plate in a canter on Spring Meeting. He lost his allowance later that year when riding the second leg of another double, Fair Best and Konigswinter, at Manchester on Friday 27 September.
