3rd Grade News

Dear Third Grade Parents,

Our writers have been working vigorously in their informational writing piece to share it with parents and other Third Graders! We are so proud of their hard work and growth that they have shown in this process, we are for sure that you will too. Our readers have also kept on studying Author’s moves that they can use in their writing. Mathematicians have worked on a variety of strategies to solve multiple problems. Partnering with parents- in this activity parents are invited to join us to be a part of your child's learning in each subject area. Please make sure that you have checked the sign up sheet that has been sent in ANS weekly letter if you are interested in joining. Don't forget we are celebrating Halloween on Oct. 31st from 1:00-2:20. Your child can come to school wearing a costume and room parents are organizing fun activities for each section. Please make sure that your child's costume is school appropriate.

Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

Focus squarely on rounding, estimation, and multi-digit addition.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Writers will learn how to transfer the skills they've learned in this unit to plan and draft for a content-specific information text. Writers will also need to compare their plans for their drafts, reminding them of different strategies to revise either the original plan or the writing. We will also continue to teach our writers that the skills they use to write their information books can be transferred to other sorts of information writing and can be used quickly, on the run.
