Dear Kindergarten Families,


THANK YOU to everyone who helped put together a wonderful friendship celebration for all of the kids, they absolutely loved and enjoyed it. They definitely continue to demonstrate empathy with their peers.

In Math, students will launch into Unit 5: Two Dimensional Geometry click here for the Unit Overview.

We just concluded our second Kindergarten Expedition, we explored stories and how to tell a story through drama. Click here for more information regarding the unit. We just began a new unit called "Kids at the Kitchen" and students are excited!

Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

ELA: Readers will celebrate by performing their books to special guests.

Phonics: Students will be combining super powers to read sentences. 

What readers & writers are doing at school...

ELA: Students will complete a mission from Mighty Reader and will be performing their scripts to special guests. They will be busy preparing what they will read and reread their scripts during their work time, using their voices to match the story and their bodies to act out the parts to better understand what is happening.


Phonics: Students will be writing sentences with short A and short I. They will learn that when they want to write a word, it helps to say each sound in the word, listen for the vowel, and then think, "Which vowel makes that sound?". They will also be learning two new snap words: am & did. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

ELA: Students are encouraged to perform their scripts to a family member.


Phonics: Students can sing to the song "What Are All The Sounds You Hear" and make sure they listen to all the sound they hear in the words: sag, rid, ham, sick, pin, mat, lap, pin, fin. 

Spanish Literacy

Learning Goal

Los escritores escriben inicios asombrosos a sus historias

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Los escritires aprenderán a escribir inicios asombrosos a sus historias para hacerlas mas divertidas de leer también aprenderán a agregar ventanitas para agregar mas detalles.

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

En casa no dejen de contar historias de su dia a dia para que le sea mas facil a los niños pensar en una en la escuela. 

Mathematics

Learning Goal

Students will understand the differneces between three-dimensional and two-dimensional shapes. 

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Mathematicians begin to articulate and develop basic geometric reasoning while extending the range of their counting and comparing skills. They will start by exploring pattern blocks, naming, sorting and describing attributes for each shape.

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Students will walk around their home and identify shapes. They can describe shapes attributes with a family member. 

Science or Social Studies

Learning Goal

Scientists on the basis of the search for knowledge and information on how they can achieve the best and most successful project possible. 

What tigers are doing at school...

Scientist are making the last couple of adjustments to their boat project, sharing ideas with each other, and observing what they can improve in order to get the best result possible.




What tigers could be doing at home...

Scientist can put their knowledge to the test by finding other objects that can also float in water.




Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

Learners and friends name examples of effective and ineffective communication practices.

Learners and friends demonstrate attentive listening, responding, and taking turns with a partner.

Learners and friends use body language and words to show they are paying attention

What friends and learners are doing at school...

Learners and friends will practice speaking and listening attentively, responding thoughtfully, and taking turns while interviewing a buddy.

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

Point out when you are using body language to show you are paying attention. Nodding, or saying “I agree” after someone finishes talking, are a few ways to show you are paying attention.
