2nd Grade News
Dear Parents,
we have done so many things this past month of November!! We get ready to receive December full of energy and ready to learn new things. Remember that on Thursday December 7th we have a regular school day and on Friday December 8th it is a holiday no school. In Math our Tigers will be busy solving student- posed story problems, we will solve as many as we can. In Reading our 2nd graders will have their own reading emergency kits ready, they will use writing to help you sort out those confusing parts and keep track of the story. They will also get a chance to self-assess and set goals. In Content we will see and discuss how do we modify our environment over time. In Phonics students will learn how to make plural with s or es. Next week we will have Spirit Week, please check what's for each day!

Social Emotional Learning Program
Learning Goal
Identify beliefs or stereotypes that exist about others, objects, or roles.
Describe limitations and problems associated with stereotyped thinking.
Demonstrate ways to challenge stereotypes(e.g., exchange for fresh thoughts or get to
know others).
What friends and learners are doing at school...
They learn strategies to reflect on the accuracy of these beliefs and foster increased understanding of variability and similarities within social groups. In this lesson, students will identify stereotypes that exist about others, objects, or activities and discuss the fairness of stereotypes.
What friends and learners could be practicing at home...
Call out when stereotypes happen in language or images. Ask students why it is a stereotype, why that is a problem, and what they can say about it.
Note stereotypes in the media and books your child discusses. How does the stereotype affect
the characters or real people involved?
