Dear Kindergarten Families, 

In expeditions students have been engaged in learning about foods and how they are made following a recipe. For this we would kindly ask for your support in sending a special family recipe to share with the class. A friendly reminder that on Wednesday Feb 28th and Thursday March 7th, we will be having our Student Led Conferences, please make sure to sign up for a time slot. NO SCHOOL on February 28th. Please mark your calendars, on Thursday February 29th at 1:30pm - 2:20pm, Kindergarteners are getting ready to showcase their literacy skills in their Spanish Celebration. Make sure to Sign Up for a slot and come celebrate your childs growth.

English Literacy

Learning Goal

ELA & Phonics: Super Readers use all their super powers to help them read a text. 

What readers & writers are doing at school...

ELA: Students will challenge themselves to hold all the powers in their minds and decide which super power would be most helpful and use their hand gestures to activate that power. 


Phonics: Students will learn that because words always have vowels in them, writers check for those vowels and add or fix them as needed. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

ELA: Students are encourage to read a book at home and activate all of their super powers they have learned. We Are Super Readers! .pdfandSuper Readers Reread .pdf


Phonics: Students can practice singing the song What Middle Sound Hear_Song.pdf and notice what is the medial sound in words. Example: rag, rip, beg, pop, mop, rat. 

Spanish Literacy

Los escritores celebran su aprendizaje y crecimiento. 

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Los escritores se están preparando para publicar sus historias y luego para su celebración, en la cual todos estan invitados a acompañarlos.

En casa conversar sobre lo que aprendieron para que su escritura sea facil de leer. 

Mathematics

Learning Goal

Students will focus on geometry and will also count and compare numbers. They will practice writing number equations. 

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Mathematicians will continue to explore shapes. They will name, identify and analize basic shapes. They will also have the opportunity to construct shapes on Geoboards. They will compare numbers and quantities. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Students can use different materials to construct shapes at home and share what they know with their family. 

Science or Social Studies

Learning Goal

Scientists are learning more abaout how effective is woking as a team, share ideas, respect others opinions. 

What tigers are doing at school...

Scientists are really engaged with their boat project, they keep producing creative ideas on how to imrove their models. Adding more specific details to their boats to make them more efficients. 

What tigers could be doing at home...

Scientist can make small boats desings made with reclicling material, being creative is a important tool for succeed. 

Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

Learners and friends identify behaviors that can maintain or disrupt conversations.

Learrns and friends identify on-topic and off-topic responses to maintain a conversation.

Learners and friends demonstrate effective conversation skills by speaking clearly and kindly, listening carefully, and responding thoughtfully.

What friends and learners are doing at school...

Good conversation skills include the ability to speak clearly, listen thoughtfully, make on-topic comments, ask on-topic questions, and take turns. The ability to participate in conversations with others helps children build relationships, exposes them to new and diverse ideas, and promotes oral language skills. In this lesson, students use Conversation Do’s and avoid Conversation Don’ts during a group conversation game.

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

You can notice when kids use effective communication skills to keep a conversation going, and reinforce these behaviors.
