Dear Families,

Take notes of the upcoming events! We have a busy week ahead of us.

Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

Writing Informational Books

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Writers will work hard and learn that one of the best ways to improve any piece of writing is to add details. Historians especially, often try to give details that help readers picture what happened in a long-ago and far away time.

In addition, they will learn that when writing a story about a time in history, they need to think about the central character, a setting, and a problem.

What mathematicians are doing at school...

The teacher will show how to use the bar model to generate equivalent fractions. Then, students will work through a similar process in pairs to generate a few fractions that are equivalent to a single fraction. Each pair will create a poster of their equivalent fractions, and the class will discuss the patterns, rules, or generalization they noticed. Also, students are going to use the posters to help make comparisons among fractions with unlike denominators in a story context.
