5th Grade News

Dear families,

Fifth graders will wrap up Unit 5 Multiplying and Dividing Fractions by completing the post-assessment. In Literacy, they are writing argumentative essays showing their stand on current global issues such as "poverty." We are running low on pencils, sharpeners, and erasers. Make sure your child brings pencils to complete classwork. Thank you for your constant support at home!

What readers & writers are doing at school...

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Martes:

Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

This unit is “Learning From Each Other.” We will explore ways to learn from one another when we encounter problems or conflict with others. Conflict is a necessary part of life—it can even be positive and helpful. Conflict helps us realize that something needs to change; it can bring people closer together; and, it gives people the opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts with one another, letting us get to know others better. In this unit, we will learn different approaches to resolving interpersonal conflicts and a step-by-step problem-solving approach

What friends and learners are doing at school..

Create some personal goals for communicating with each other.

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

What does “communicating with others” mean to you?

When do you think you have been successful in communicating and why? When was there room for improvement?

What do you think helps you communicate in a way so that someone else understands your message?
