Kindergarten News

Good afternoon Kindergarten Families,

Thank you for joining us this week for the students led conferences. It was so wonderful to meet with most of you and being able to see students showcasing their amazing hard work they do everyday in school. It is important to remember that children develop at their own pace. Being able to learn at their own speed also helps a child develop a positive attitude towards learning. For all of the families who have not joined us, please review your sign up sheet for a reminder of your assigned time slot.

Thank you to all who were able to join us in their Spanish Literacy Celebration, students enjoyed having you and especially demonstrating what they learned about Ruben Dario and the stories they wrote.

Next week, students will be visiting different sites around the school such as the Hungry Tiger, Fresco Stand, and Food Court for our Language Expeditions. They will be able to see "behind the scenes" and how food is made, and even get to sample the food! Starting March 11th students will be making their own peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe using English vocabulary. We are kindly asking families to help us supply the ingredients. Each classroom will need the following supplies:

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Ingredients:

-2-3 loaves of wheat bread

-2-3 loaves of white bread

(about 50 slices of bread)

-1 jar of creamy peanut butter

-1 jar of crunchy peanut butter

-strawberry jelly/jam

-Guayaba jelly/jam

-Pineapple jelly/jam

-Grape jelly/jam

(If it is a large Pricemart jar we would only need one jar per flavor, but if it is the smaller Callejas brand we would need 2 containers)

-Fruit salad (bananas, strawberries, apples, pears, ect)

-1 bag of rice

-1 bag of beans

-pasta (can be regular, noodles, shells)

Teachers will communicate with room parents to help facilitate this. We thank you in advance for your support. Please let us know if your child has any peanut or fruit allergies. We would need all these by Monday March 11th for the expeditions project.

KA will be only doing the Fruit salad on March 15th and are making the Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich on March 1st.

KB & KC will be doing the Sandwich & Fruit Salad on March 15th.
