Learning Goal
Discipline Based Writing: "Writing Informational Books"
Writers will be starting a new unit in which they will research influential people around the world. They will investigate not only their lives, but also the major historical events connected to them. How did these people influence and impact the world? Why did they want change? And why is their impact important for us and the rest of the world today?
Homework: Students' homework will be in their journals, please make sure your child completes the assigned work and turns in the homework the following day.
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Students will be able to find equivalent fractions using the bar model. The teacher will show how to use the bar model to generate equivalent fractions. Then, students will work through a similar process in pairs to generate a few fractions that are equivalent to a single fraction. Each pair will create a poster of their equivalent fractions, and the class will discuss the patterns, rules, or generalization they noticed. Also, students are going to use the posters to help make comparisons among fractions with unlike denominators in a story context
Learning Goal
Science
Our 4th graders will soon begin an exciting new social studies unit about migration. During this unit, students will explore why people and animals move from one place to another and how migration impacts communities, environments, and living things. Students will also study the cause and effects migration can have on families, cultures, ecosystems, and populations. Through discussions, reading activities, and research they will strengthen their understanding of the people and phenomena around them.
