Dear Kindergarten Families,
Kindergarteners had a great week of learning! Writers continue to learn how to write about things they love and they have been creating amazing books.
In Spanish, they will start a new writing unit called "Show and Tell". In Phonics, they joined Mabel in a mini celebration by doing an ABC song parade around the classroom by stomping out the beats to names and changing beginning sounds to make silly names.
In Math, students will launch into Unit 2: Numbers to ten click here for the Unit Overview.
SAVE THE DATE - We are excited to announce that we will be having a Parent Workshop on Thursday October 10th at 7am "Growing Language Learners" . HERE is the sign up sheet
On another note, Kindergarten Picture Day will be on Thursday October 3rd. They will be wearing graduation togas in their picture (provided by the school). Please have them wear any white collared polo shirt to school that day. Girls should wear their hair down (without ponytails or bows) to accommodate the graduation cap. KC will not be swimming this day.
Learning Goal

Learning Goal
Students will explore numbers from 0 to 10. They will continue to develop one to one corresponance, cardinality, subitizing and combinations of numbers 0 to 10.
Students will continue to count objects and arrange them into lines, arrays or circles in order to answer How many? questions. Mathematicians will also be introduced to the Number Rack. This powerful tool will support students on developing critical understanding of numbers.
Mathematicians can use objects around the house or yard, and use them to make groups, count and compare which is greater. Ex. Find as many rocks, as many sticks as you can in your backyard. Count hom many each group has. Then compare which group has more?
Learning Goal
Each person is unique with individual characteristics, yet we also share similarities that connect us to others, fostering respect for self and others.
Mirror Reflection & Self-Portraits:
Students will create self-portraits using mirrors and skin-tone crayons to highlight their individual traits.
Goal: Build self-confidence and recognition of uniqueness.
Favorite Things Collage:
Students will make collages of their favorite activities, foods, and colors using magazines and paper.
Goal: Appreciate personal preferences and recognize diversity.
Family Portraits with Thinker Trays:
Activity: Using various materials, students will design 3D or 2D portraits of their family members.
Goal: Understand family dynamics and promote social awareness.
Students can draw a special heart. Inside that heart, they will write or draw things they like about their personality. It’s a way to celebrate who they are! Think About Themselves: What makes them Unique. Are they kind, funny, or helpful? All of it counts!
Learning Goal
Friends and learners will learn about recognizing their own and others’ emotions.
Friends will describe and demonstrate how emotions feel (internal physical sensations) and look and sound (external physical and vocal cues).
Friends can practice expressing their emotions at home when asked 'How are you?' Instead of just saying 'good' or 'bad,' try to mention your specific emotion. You might feel happy, sad, angry, surprised, or calm
