Dear 5th grade families,
We are so excited for our Parent Engagement sessions for Math and SEL. You are encouraged to sign up to come and continue building strong partnerships. This will be on Thursday, October 3rd from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. We are looking forward to having you in our classrooms!
Learning Goal
Students will continue studying strategies for generating personal narratives, and learning techniques for raising their level of narrative writing.
Tell a story through a narrator’s eyes, keeping a consistent point of view throughout the piece.
-Using details that are true to the event. Assess themselves as writers and set goals.
-Using a checklist for narrative writing with accountability. -Reread their entries, recall their storytelling efforts and revise their leads.
Ask themselves, What is my story really about? And imagine that there is more than one way their story could be told.
-Rehearse their stories by storytelling them first.
-Share their process and progress.
Readers are encouraged to read daily for at least 45 minutes, and use their reading log to keep track of their reading volume and stamina. See Google classroom.

* Usar diferentes estrategias para encontrar la I.P de una sección del texto.
* Leerán la lectura “COMIENZA LA CARRERA ESPACIAL A MARTE”
* Escribir 3 detalles que haya llamado la atención o una conexión o información nueva que aprendieron
* Explicarán lo que entendieron como Idea Principal
* Identificarán la Idea Principal del texto en cada párrafo.
Trabajarán independiente con el libro que seleccionaron.
* Escribirán en el cuaderno las I.P de las secciones del texto que han elegido.
La tarea será asignada en Google Classroom.

Use money and clock to explore adding and subtracting fractions.
Students will be using a Money Model to explore fractions. Students will also be exploring fractions on a clock, another model that helps deepen understanding of fractions, equivalence, and addition and subtraction of fractions.

Synthesize their learning and start working on the final performance task
Students will write a persuasive paragraph explaining why social media can be harmful, using examples like privacy, misinformation and cyberbullying or misinformation.
Searching, reading and analizing for articles related with privacy, misinformation and cyberbullying.
Learning Goal
We will learn that our emotions (feelings), thoughts, and actions affect what we do when we interact with others and that we can identify strategies to help cool off when our emotions are strong so we are able to direct our actions in useful ways period.
Friends and learners will play a game of four corners. They will hear a scenario and then choose from a series of emotions, thoughts, and actions. They will have to decide which corner or area to go to based on how they think they would respond. After each scenario, have students discuss their responses with their peers and share out. We will be creating personal goals in order to be our best self during this first unit

We look forward to Picture Day! On their photo day, students can come in casual clothing and are encouraged to wear solid colors. Please know that Primary students will not have an active PE class on photo day.
