Dear First Grade Parents,
What an incredible week back! The beautiful moments we’ve shared have truly touched our hearts and reminded us just how much our Tigers have grown. They are now experts in so many areas and are proudly sharing their knowledge through their teaching books.
As we begin this new trimester, we have taken time to review our expectations for the semester. These include fostering a positive learning environment, staying curious, and striving for growth in all areas. We’re confident these goals will help our Tigers continue to thrive and shine.
We are excited to see what this new year and trimester have in store for our Tigers. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to nurture their growth and success.
Warm regards,
Learning Goal
Writing: Writers will learn how to help their readers picture whatever they are writing about by comparing that thing to something that readers know well. Phonics: Relate and apply what you know about blends to see how some blends that come at the end of words are different than those that come at the start of words.
Writing: Writers will take their time to work to add comparisons to their writing that help readers picture things. Most kids will continue drafting the book they began in the previous sessions, although they can also revise those books and others to bring out more comparisons and descriptions. Phonics: Readers and writers will study that blends can also come at the ending of words. They will explore how some blends that come at the end of words are different than those that come at the start of words.
Writing: Check out this book, "Blue Whales: Giant Mammals" Have your child look at the “Table of Contents”, read to find the comparisons the author uses, and ask yourself, "How does this comparison help me understand this part better?". Phonics: Use what we practice about “Some blends that come at the end” to read the book “How do Flamingos stand on one leg?”. Remember to hear, say and identify the blends we studied.
Learning Goal
Learning Goal

Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Demonstrating Empathy and Compassion.
Tigers will learn to understand how others feel and see things from their point of view. We'll talk about different feelings and how to be kind when someone feels sad, happy, or upset.
Have a conversation about a time when no one showed empathy for you in a situation. How did you feel? What do you wish people had done?
