Dear Parents,

Many wonderful events have taken place in the first two weeks of December and we are amazed to notice how excited and determined the students are in pursuing their learning goals.

In Literacy, we have launched a research study. Students are expected to read different books and articles about their chosen animals to gather information. We encourage students to research online with the support of their parents using RAZ kids and some research tools e.g. magazines on animals, educational videos, and google (parents’ support). We have explored boxes and bullets to document the main ideas. The goal of this research study is for students to explore and write nonfiction and grow their ideas by combining all the information they gathered from different resources.

In math, we are strengthening our problem solving skills by developing our critical thinking skills through the lens of step-by-tep strategy. Third graders have been exploring multi-step problems and it is important to read and analyze the problems carefully.

In social studies, we continue to explore the opportunities and challenges created by globalization. As we wrap this unit, students will make connections between the concept of globalization with their day to day life’s experience.
