Dear Tiger Parents,
Another amazing and golden week of classes in first grade. For our first graders, it’s a period of magical discovery as they develop alertness and observation skills like mathematicians using the fact families. Students enjoyed the challenges of being word detectives because they have discovered the mystery of the silent e, and how this tricky vowel found at the end of words works. They have detective notebooks to write every word they encounter and study with silent e. Let's celebrate their learning together, take some time to ask them to teach you about silent e. On the other hand, we had a successful “Math / Social Emotional Learning Parent Engagement", where you got the chance to play the role of a student inside our wonderful classrooms. Thank you so much for your attendance and continued support.
We are better together. Your support is greatly appreciated !💚
Learning Goal
Reading: Word Detectives are on the lookout for problems and how to solve them.
Phonics: Focus on studying phonograms with long “A” patterns to make new words.
Reading: Word Detectives are on the lookout for problems and how to solve them, this week they will pause as they read to comprehend more, making sure to slow down to read unknown words while making sure to scoop up words to make their reading smooth. In Bend II detectives will be on the lookout for the Silent E, making sure to be flexible with the vowel sounds while reading. Phonics: Readers and writers will show their power by using their knowledge of CVCe words with long “A” patterns to make new words.
Reading: Word Detectives should be reading every day using the skills learned in class, you can find them on this ANCHOR CHART. Have your detective read a book to you. Choose a skill to work on using this book: ”A Secret Pet”. Phonics: Use what we practice about “Phonograms: ane/ ate/ ake/ ame” to read the book “All kinds of animals". Remember to identify, write and repeat words with long “A” patterns at the end of the word.
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Use the relationship of between addition and subtraction to add and suntract within 10.
Students will continue to use double-flap number cards to solve addition and subtracton facts and compare different number combinations using the signs > < =
Home Connection Unit 2 Module 2 Session 5. Due Wednesday October 16 Activity 1 Dominoes
Learning Goal
5-day Science Project: Collaboration & Engagement
Students will be creating a physical model of a plant and all of the different parts a plant uses to survive. As they create their model be sure that as they create each individual part they are using the observations, questions and information they learned about plants previously to show the purpose of each part of the plant.
Scientists can share at home what they know about plants and their parts.
Learning Goal
Friends will learn about how differences add value
Friends will share something unique about themselves. They will learn that it’s okay to be different in some ways and these differences are accepted and valued.
Have a conversation as a family and share curious facts about yourselves, think about how these diferences make you special!
