Dear Families,
Our fifth graders have been exploring various methods of collecting data and brainstorming substrates for their upcoming science experiments. They have built upon each other's ideas and developed plans to conduct their experiments.
Next week, we will conclude our Narrative Craft unit. We are proud to celebrate their progress as they apply the techniques learned from previous lessons and mentor texts, enhancing their writing skills. It’s inspiring to see them setting goals to elevate their writing.
On Monday, we will send emails with further feedback on each student's progress as a reader. We continue to reinforce the tiger traits of being reflective, well-rounded, and compassionate.
We truly appreciate your unwavering support at home. Thank you for going above and beyond to help us prepare the 5th grade stand for the Fall Festival.
Learning Goal
Students will develop a seed idea into a major piece of writing, apply narrative writing techniques and revise it to make it more powerful. They will celebrate their growth as writers and reflect on how they can keep narrative writing alive in the classroom.
-Learn about punctuation-commas in particular-from writing they admire, to make their writing more exact.
-Explore the use of commas with their partners.
-Revise and edit their personal narratives, keeping in mind the lessons they’ve learned about commas.
-Use what they have learned about punctuation, grammatical and sentence structures in their writing process.
-Publish their writing.
Students are encouraged to read daily for 45 minutes, and annotate any technique they notice in the books they are reading.

* Analizarán al personaje principal caracterizando la personalidad para hacer interpretaciones sobre cómo el personaje respondió a los problemas y qué demuestran sus acciones.
* Desarrollarán las ideas iniciales que tuvieron sobre el personaje y la época.

Learning Goal
Students will conduct an experiment to see how plants grow in different types of habitats.
Next week, the scientists will start setting up their experiments and complete their first journal entry about how they set it up and what variables they are using for their own experiments.
Conduct a search about how do plants depend on the planet for survival and Where do they get the energy they need to survive and grow.
Learning Goal
Our self-talk influences how we think and feel about ourselves and others. In this lesson, we will learn how to respond to challenging situations or situations in which you might make a mistakewith helpful, optimistic self-talk to think and feel in ways that will help us act in ways to reach our goals.
Understand that my mindset is connected to my thoughts and emotions.
Use self-talk in a helpful way to reach my goals.
Turn unhelpful self-talk to optimistic, helpful self-talk.
Think about a challenging situation you have experienced and your self-talk during it. How would your actions have been different if your self-talk had been different?
