Dear Kindergarten Families,
We had a fantastic week of learning! 🌟 In Reading, students are learning to use patterns in books and familiar snap words to help them read. With Mabel’s help, they have been exploring Word-Part Power during phonics. They are discovering short word parts like -an, -at,- ap, -in, -it, -ip, and-op practicing manipulating the first sound to create lists of new words. 🧩
In Math, students are enjoying the new workplaces! 🔢 They have been learning strategies to make addition easier, such as the counting-on strategy, and are excited to apply these new skills. ➕✨

ELA: Readers will be learning to make plan to read with a parnter and help each other, they are going to learn hot to make a choral reading, sew-saw reading and copy reading.
Phonics: Students will use their word part power to make as many new words as they can. They will learn to write words letter-by-word-part and they will use it to read simple rhyming books, while focusing on the fact that words that sound the same at the end are often spelled the same at the end. They will learn 3 new snap words: got, was, went.
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Students will describe the length of an object.
Mathematicians will explore measuring length with non-standards units ( feet, craft sticks and unifix cubes). Students will develop the understanding of the concept of longer, shorter and th same length.
Students can use objects around their house and measure length. They can also compare one object length to the other.
Learning Goal
Students will engage with maps and globes through creative activities, developing basic geographic skills, spatial awareness, and an understanding of how these tools represent the world around them.
Students will design imaginary maps of fantasy worlds, explore continents on a globe, follow treasure maps to solve clues, and personalize their own planets on globes. Each activity fosters creativity, problem-solving, and spatial awareness, encouraging the students to think imaginatively about the world around them.
Students can create a "Treasure Hunt Adventure" by drawing a simple map of their backyard or house, marking where a "hidden treasure" is located. They can then ask a family member to follow the map and find the treasure. Along the way, the student can provide clues and use symbols or pictures to guide them. This activity enhances their map-reading skills, problem-solving, and spatial thinking in an interactive and fun way.
Learning Goal
Tigers consider how empathy relates to friendship.
In this lesson, tigers will listen to scenarios, determine the emotion felt by the characters, and discuss ways to respond
with empathy and show that they care.
When reading a book, point out ways the characters show empathy in the story.
