Dear Parents,
We are so happy to have students back after the Holiday vacation. They came full of energy, setting goals and ready to grow their knowledge. This new year we kick off with Unit 4 in Bridges, which aims to understand measurement, beginning with Time to the minute, elapsed time during number corner. They transfer this skill to show time on a number line. Students move on metric system measurement, using grams, kg, ml and liters. Please make sure your child practices telling the time at home. Here is the Interactive Clock.
As Researchers they will continue to understand and extend on that when we research we gather evidence from many different platforms. They sift through this evidence to notice patterns that will lead them to develop theories of their own and eventually have them test out the theories.
As Scientists students will be looking at how the production of food on large farms is important to us to provide food but also destroys the natural habitat for animals that live in the environment around the farms.
Learning Goal
Our readers will continue researching about animals. They will use different text structures to organize the information and notes effectively. They will analyze the choices the author made to grow ideas. The students will compare and contrast the information in the books, and they will identify patterns.
