In Phonics, the students have finally met Gus the dragon and shared their phonics knowledge. They worked on R-Controlled Vowels including /ar/, /or/, /ir/ and /ur/ and learned the most common ways to spell the /er/ sound. In Reading, students will be reading for longer periods of time and paying attention to punctuation and font.

Students are encouraged to practice reading and writing R-Controlled vowel words so they can listen for the different phonemes and use the correct vowels especially when using the Snap Words. In Reading, 2nd graders can read any book they have at home for 20 minutes always paying attention to font and punctuation. Also practice using good intonation.

Los estudiantes escriben narraciones luego de planear cada parte de sus historias y aprenden estrategias recordando todo lo que sucedió en ese día especial, eligiendo el momento más importante para iniciar y terminar sus narraciones. También, escriben descripciones y utilizan palabras adecuadas para describir sentimientos.

• -Identifican la información que deben escribir en el inicio, medio y final en sus narraciones. (Preguntas que pueden generar infromación)

• -Escritores estudian el uso de adjetivos y reconocen palabras agudas.

• -Escritores hacen uso correcto de signos de puntuación (punto, coma, signos de admiración e interrogación, uso de guión en diálogos y el uso de mayúsculas).

• -Escritores cuando se encuentran con palabras difíciles de escribir, pueden sonar cada letra, juntarlas en sílabas y practicar escribirlas y volverlas a leer, prestando atención si es la palabra correcta que necesita escribir.

Next week mathematicians will be introduced to new strategies like double and halves to develop fluency when solving number facts to 20. Also they will learn about odd and even numbers. 

Classify the following numbers into odd and even numbers: 6, 3, 14, 56, 22, 8, 100, 50, 35, 67. Home Connection Unit 1 Module 3 Session 1. Home Connection Unit 1 Module 3 Session 3. Home Connection Unit 1 Module 3 Session 5.

Tigers are working in groups to create a poster explaining about community helper, a challenge in their school community and their solution.

Ask family members if they have experienced or know of any challenges in the community. Discuss how the community came together to solve the problem and write a short story or draw a picture about it.

Friends and learners will learn how to regulate their emotions and find strategies to calm down during intense feelings such as breathing techniques

Friends and learners can find a spot where they feel safe and comfortable to regulate their emotions and do strategies. It is important to remember that this is not a time out or punishment zone but a zone of regulation
