Dear families,
Fifth-graders had an exciting learning experience and deepened their knowledge of states of matter. Now they will continue using that knowledge to design and execute new projects, we would like to take a moment to thank you for your collaboration with the kids in providing the materials needed for this project.
Learning Goal
Name the problem that a character faces, and then think about the lessons the character may learn or what the author may want readers to know.
Focus on one element of a story, like character, and use that to see more in a story as a whole.
-Consider the ways in which Kek deals with his problems and the large themes or messages his reactions convey.
-Reading with others can help them see more than they would have seen on their own.
Readers are encouraged to read daily for at least 45 minutes, and use their reading log to keep track of their reading volume and stamina.

Aprender sobre eventos históricos: Descubrimiento de Nicaragua, Independencia, Batalla de San Jacinto.
Inculcar amor por la patria.
Conocer las raíces de la cultura nicaragüense.
En el contexto de la Semana Patria, los estudiantes realizarán diferentes actividades para hacer un Mural Patrio
* Los estudiantes leerán y analizarán el texto “La lucha por la independencia”
Tomarán nota de los datos históricos más importantes, destacando y compartiendo el nuevo conocimiento adquirido.
* Verán un video sobre los Símbolos Patrios y Emblemas Nacionales. Tomarán nota de los videos. Establecerán la diferencia entre Símbolos Patrios y Símbolos o emblemas nacionesl. Trabajarán en los murales.
* Leerán la lectura "Gastronomía en Nicaragua" Los estudiantes elaborarán afiches de comidas representativas.
Escribirán el nombre del platillo y los ingredientes con los que se preparan.
* Verán un video sobre las danzas folklóricas nicaragüenses. Comentarán los diferentes vestuarios que se usan en cada una de ellas. Harán un collage de los trajes típicos por regiones y danzas foklóricas y los colocarán en el mura

Understand strategies of multiplication.
Students will learn the relationship between 5 and 10 in multiplication, and other multiplication strategies. Students will be taking Unit 2 Screener.

Students will be working on a self reflection based on their science projects by using a checklist in order to communicate their observations, data and understanding of the phenomena.
Having discussions at home about what they noticed when executing their experiments, and reflecting on what they would have done differently if they could do it one more time.

Friends and learners will discover that there are things they do and do not know about their classmates and that finding these things out is how we discover what we have in common with each other and can do together—even when we seem very different.
Sometimes we don’t realize we have things in common because we don’t take the time to talk to each other and find out how we are the same and how we are different. Friends and learners will work with partners to find out more about what we have in common playing the commonalities gameboard.

Fiestas Patrias Holidays
-Students can bring a typical Nicaraguan snack to school on Thursday September 12th to celebrate the National week. They will eat it during snack time and could share it with one or two friends.
Students need to bring a typical Nicaraguan clothing on Friday September 13th; they can bring their uniform and change at school.
