Dear 2nd grade Parents,
As we wrap up the 2nd week of school I am excited to share how well the children are adjusting to their new routines, teachers, and friendships. They are becoming more familiar with our classroom expectations and are showing great enthusiasm in their learning. It's wonderful to see them form connections with their peers. Please know that we are here to support each child as they continue to settle in. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out. Make sure you inform us before 11:30 am or you can write to the Primary office and they will inform us.
Learning Goal
Reading with engagement, stamina and fluency.
In Phonics; the students reviewed Digraphs using h and the Silent E helping with short and long vowels. They learned more Gr. 2 Consonant Blends and found out how Y is used as a long vowel. In Reading our 2nd grade readers will practice reading with stamina, fluency and engagement using all the strategies they learned in first grade. We will review some of them.
Students should practice saying the short and long vowel sounds. Don't forget (y) e, and (y) i can be the long vowel sound. Our 2nd grade readers should read daily for 20 minutes making sure they use the strategies they taught them in first grade, and then respond to the following questions: Title, characters, setting, what was the problem of the story?

Los estudiantes aprenden a planificar sus narraciones personales, escriben sobre momentos que recuerdan y son realmente memorables para ellos.
Esta semana inicia el trabajo de planificar y escribir narraciones personales, los escritores aprenden nuevas estrategias para pensar en ideas y comenzar a escribir sus historias. También aprenden que los escritores organizan sus ideas y deciden cual es el lugar de cada una de ellas en la historia y estudian cómo está estructurada una narración personal.
Escriben en sus cuadernos ideas sobre historias que quieren dar a conocer a través de la escritura.
Eligen una de sus ideas y recuerdan todo sobre ese momento y organizan la información , pensado que podrían escribir al inició, en el medio y al final de sus narraciones personales.
Escritores deben asegurarse de que sus escritos utilizan correctamente el uso de mayúsculas, signos de puntuación y asegurarse de usar la letra que representa el sonido correcto en cada palabra.

Students will identify challenges in meeting needs and wants, and collaborate to propose solutions, reflecting on the importance of working together as a community.
Students will identify and analyze challenges that communities, including their school, might face in meeting needs and wants. Also, they are going to use teamwork and creative thinking in solving community challenges.
Take a walk around the neighborhood with your family and identify different community services (e.g., grocery store, fire station, school). They should note how each service meets a need or want.

Friends and learners will learn how to solve problems in an effective way
Friends and learners will learn how to solve problems with steps before their problem turns into a bigger problem, with important steps such as pausing to relax, talk with kind words, find solutions and try the solutions.
Friends and learners can practice at home the four steps of peace place when facing a problem: 1. Pause, 2. Talk, 3. Think, 4. Try.
