Dear families,
Fifth graders will wrap up Unit 1 of Social Media by presenting their final projects to lower grade level students. In Literacy, they are working on their final drafts and making them powerful by identifying the meaning of their own story and applying strategies for raising the level of narrative writing. The new unit of Science will start on Thursday, October 17th.
Learning Goal
Students will finish drafting and revising their personal narratives.
Draw on resources to finish their writing.
Use various resources to self-assess, revise and edit their work.
Identify goals and places for revision.
Readers are encouraged to read daily for at least 45 minutes, and use their reading log to keep track of their reading volume and stamina.

Los escritores conocerán el uso de -g- en las palabras:
* Relgas ortográficas del uso de G.
* Identificarán palabras escritas con -g- en las lecturas y deducirán el uso del grafema.
* Ejercitarán la aplicación de las reglas ortográficas en fragmentos de lectura.
Los escritores pensarán en respuestas a la lectura:
* Escribirán en el cuaderno "¿Qué aprendí sobre la lectura?" utilizarán evidencias del texto leído: pensamientos, sentimientos y preguntas de profundidad.
* Leerán con el propósito de hacer más grandes sus ideas: I.P., I. S, resumen, comparar y contrastar, causa-efecto, secuencia, problema & solución, características y estructura del texto.

Students are going to present a social media campain to other students, encouraging them to be thoughtful digital citizens who use social media in constructive and meaningful ways
Students can continue working on their Google Slide presentations, as well as looking for more examples of hurtful content on social media and writing an argument about it.

Everyone has emotions, but not everyone feels or acts the same way in the same situation, and that’s okay. In today’s lesson, we’ll use clues to show and understand emotions. We’ll also decide how we would feel in certain situations and learn how others would, too.
Use clues to identify my own emotions and the emotions of others.
Describe what an emotion looks and sounds like on the outside and feels like on the inside, including if the emotion is pleasant or unpleasant, strong or mild.
Identify when others express emotions differently or have a different emotion based on the same situation.
Think of a time you had a strong emotion. Why was it strong? What information did the emotion provide you? How did you use it?
