In Phonics, students are learning about many different phonics sounds and the rules to use when spelling and writing words. These sounds include the -age ending, using -ic or -ick, -gh which can sound like a /g/, /f/ or be silent and -ph which makes an /f/ sound. These are tricky consonant combinations! In English Literacy, students will be reading Poems like a real poet, using their voice like a poet. We will teach them intonation.

For Phonics practice reading and writing these words: page, message, camouflage, basic, click, ghost, might, enough, graph, phone, sphere, trophy. In English Literacy students can Read a Poem or create one.

Los estudiantes aprenderán a expresar opiniones sobre el mundo que los rodea,

leerán ejemplos de opiniones escritas sobre temas del mundo (como el cuidado

del medio ambiente, la importancia de los animales y otros temas cotidianos).

Identificaran las partes de una opinión: introducción, razones y conclusión.

Luego pensaran en temas y reflexionaran sobre ellos para iniciar a planificar sus escrituras.

-Escritores en casa leen sobre un tema que les apasione.

-Escriben un diario de opiniones (cuaderno), sobre algo del mundo que les rodea. (Recordando que una opiniòn tiene una introducción, razones y una conclusión)

-Usan oraciones simples como guía: ("Yo opino que…", "Una razón es porque…", "También pienso que…", "Por eso creo que…").

-Utilizan conectores como ("porque", "también" y "por eso") para unir sus ideas.

-Escritores revisan su escritura, asegurándose de que escribieron una opinión, razones claras y si usaron conectores.

Students will work with 2 digit numbers and problem solving by exploring scenarios that involve single presents ( representing 1s) and parcels of presents ( representing 10s). 

Solve the following problem using the number line. Adam is 45 years old. His grandfather Robert is 98 years old. How much older is granpa Robert? 

Tigers are going to create a class chart to compare and contrast characteristics of communities.

Draw a picture of your community and label important features.

Friends will learn that it’s okay to be different and these differences are accepted and valued. They will make posters about what makes each of them awesome, and then guess whose poster is whose.

Talk as a family about what you can learn from one another. Discuss this question "How would our family be like if we were all the same?"
