Dear Kindergarten Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are as excited as we are to continue this journey of learning and growth together.
Starting Monday during our expeditions, we will begin a new unit called "Oh, the Stories We Tell." In this unit, students will explore the elements of literature, including characters, setting, and plot. Through engaging stories and poems, they will discover how literature can serve as mirrors, windows, and sliding doors, helping us connect with ourselves, appreciate differences, and gain a deeper understanding of the world.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop their theater skills. They will learn to use gestures, voice, facial expressions, and props to bring their oral storytelling to life. We are thrilled to see their creativity and imagination shine in this new and exciting unit!
Thank you for your continued support. Here is to a fantastic start to 2026!
Important Information:
-Group C starts swimming on Monday January 19th to 30th.

Phonics: Students will be using word part to write other words.
ELA: Our readers started a new reading unit "Sharing Reading", during this week they are going to learn that they can use the snap words they know to read pattern books.
Phonics: Students will use their word part power to make as many new words as they can. They will learn to write words letter-by-word-part and they will use it to read simple rhyming books, while focusing on the fact that words that sound the same at the end are often spelled the same at the end.
ELA: Practice reading at home and find snap words in the books and the pattern. Here you have an options: The Big Cat I can
Phonics: Students can read familiar books to find and use word parts. (-an, -at, -ap, -in, -it)
Learning Goal
Estrategias Libro Libro 2 Libro 3 Alfabeto
Learning Goal
We are learning to make combinations that equal 5 using pictures and numbers.
Playing a fun math game called Fives Up
Using dot cards, number cards, and ten-frames to find ways to make 5
Working in teams or with partners to combine cards
Keeping cards that equal 5 and counting who has the most
Practicing math skills during Work Places
Finding ways to make 5 using fingers, toys, or snacks
Saying number pairs that make 5 (like 2 and 3, 4 and 1)
Playing simple card or counting games that add up to 5
Talking about “How do you know it makes 5?”
Learning Goal
Students will be able to recognize and use maps and globes to understand that they show places on Earth, such as land and water, and help us find where things are.
At school, students will practice this by exploring classroom maps and globes, locating familiar places like their school, neighborhood, land, and water, and talking about where things are using simple direction words.
With help from a family member, your child can draw a simple map of their home or bedroom. He/she could include a few important places (bed, table, door, couch, bathroom, etc.) Use shapes to do your drawing.
Learning Goal
Social Awareness: Appreciating one another
Each person brings to their interactions and relationships a unique set of experiences, interests, abilities, heritage, and temperamental qualities. Sometimes students can find these differences interesting, but sometimes they may view these differences as very different from their own. Respecting and appreciating what makes each person unique can foster understanding, empathy, and positive attitudes toward others. In this lesson, students make collages that help them understand their diverse backgrounds and how that diversity makes us have valuable contributions to offer.
As children listen to or read stories, note how similar or different the characters in the stories are to them. Find how their differences make them special.
