Dear Kindergarten Families,
What an amazing week the children had! They continue to show growth in all subject areas.
In Math, students have just completed Unit 4: Paths to Adding, Subtracting & Measuring! Please check your child’s backpack as we are sending home connections and activities you can do together at home. Starting next week, we will launch Unit 5: Two-Dimensional Geometry! Click here for the Unit Overview.
We are also learning about kitchen tools and food products as part of our classroom experiences. To make our learning more hands-on and meaningful, we would greatly appreciate any donations you may be able to send. Items we are looking for include: bowls, pans, wooden spoons, pots, or other child-safe kitchen items. We would also be very grateful for contributions of rice, beans, or pasta for our classroom activities.
Thank you so much for your continued support, it truly makes a difference in our learning!

Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Tell the difference between a circle (flat) and a sphere (round like a ball). Sort, count, and add to 20
Using clay to explore circles and spheres
Naming and sorting real-life objects (circle or sphere)
Sorting and counting pattern blocks, then making a simple graph (most/least)
Playing Circles & Squares Race to Twenty (roll a die 0–5, color, count on, land exactly on 20)
Go on a circle hunt (plate, clock, lid) and compare to balls (spheres)
Sort and count small objects (toys, snacks)
Roll a die and practice counting on to 20
Play a simple “Race to 20” game with paper and crayons 🎲
Learning Goal
I can sort things into needs and wants and explain why.
Students are learning to identify the difference between needs and wants. They are sorting pictures, discussing real-life examples, and explaining their thinking using sentence frames like:
“This is a need because…”
“This is a want because…”
At home you can practice by asking your child to look around the house and name 3 needs and 3 wants. Talking about items at the grocery store and asking, “Is this a need or a want? Why?” and also having them draw and label one need and one want and explain their thinking.
Learning Goal
Relationship Skills: Communicating Effectively
Sometimes it can be challenging or uncomfortable for students to speak up, and this can prevent them from having their ideas, and needs heard, acknowledged, and addressed. In this lesson, students will practice communicating effectively and showing assertiveness by responding to scenarios where they have to decide if and how to speak up and speak kindly.
Encourage tigers to speak up assertively when they want their ideas to be heard.
