Dear Kindergarten Families,
Another amazing week has gone by, and our students keep shining! In English Literacy, students are learning that they are storybook readers, they look at the pictures, remember, and read. They have also been learning to use exact words that match the page. In Phonics, students act as word scientists, using alphabet charts to study how letters and sounds work together. They notice patterns, connect sounds to pictures, and use these tools to read and write new words. In Math, students have been busy noticing patterns and creating our very own classroom quilt!

Phonics: Word scientists are going to be learning new snap words an in and it. They are going to be writing sentences to practice snap words.
ELA: At home read familiar storybooks (Little Red Riding Hood, Corduroy, Goldilock and the Three Bears...) again and again and then have your child read the same book to you using exact character words.
Phonics: Practice all the snap words at home, you can follow "How to learn a word" chart
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
We are reviewing everything we have learned so far and celebrating our progress in math.
-Revisiting ten-frames, number racks, tallies, and pattern blocks
-Playing favorite math games from previous weeks
-Sharing quilt and pattern block creations with classmates
-Celebrating all the math learning and accomplishments from past weeks
-Play simple number or shape games together, revisiting favorites from school
-Ask your child to show and explain their ten-frame, tally, or pattern block work
-Celebrate learning milestones with math “show and tell” using toys, blocks, or household items
-Encourage creative play with numbers and shapes, like making their own patterns or puzzles
Learning Goal
Students will research a local bird to understand its survival needs and how it interacts with its environment.
Students will explore what they know about birds and observe them on the playground. They will record their findings, discuss bird needs, and ask questions for the wonder wall. After reading a nonfiction book, they will create mini-books showing what birds need to survive.
At home, children can go on a mini bird-watching adventure by observing birds in their backyard or neighborhood, using binoculars to spot them, and drawing what they see. They can also create a simple bird journal, writing a few sentences about each bird’s colors, size, and what it might eat, then share their favorite discovery with their family.
Learning Goal
Self-Awareness: Linking Feelings, Values, and Thoughts
Emotional understanding includes recognizing that our emotions, thoughts, and actions are connected; and their interconnectedness depends on the situation and on the individual. In this lesson, students will reflect on situations, determine how they might feel, think, and act in response, and compare their response to others.
Have students share about how they have different feelings, thoughts, and actions in situations that come up in school.
