Dear families,

Welcome to an exciting new school year! We are thrilled to have your children join us in fifth grade, and we can't wait to embark on this wonderful journey of learning and growth together. We are looking forward to creating a partnership with you where every student can achieve their goals. We are sure we'll have a fantastic year filled with exploration, discovery, and fun.

English Literacy

Learning Goal

Readers and writers will reflect on their readers identity, review how to work with a reading goal, and reinforce indepedent reading strategies and routines.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Readers and writers will discuss daily class routines.
Tigers will think about and share their reader identity.
Read aloud time.
Readers will review how to use a reading log, and keep track of their progress.
Readers will have Independent reading time.
Readers will have a tour of the classroom library, and browse choices.
Stamina and volume

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Readers are encouraged to read daily for at least 45 minutes.

Spanish Literacy

Learning Goal

Conocer la rutina de Español y aplicarlas durante la clase.

Seleccionar y orrganizar los materiales de clase: personalizar, rotular.

Leer analítica e interpretativamente.

Bienvenida / presentación de la maestra / orientaciones generales.
Los estudiantes participarán en una conversación colaborativa en la clase para establecer la rutina.
Escribirán una norma de conducta que se implementará en la clase.
Escogerán, separarán y personalizarán los cuadernos y folderes de Español.
Lectura: Cuento
Los estudiantes responderán preguntas literales. Interpretarán la lectura según los conocimientos sobre el tema del cuento.

Mathematicians will be learning the new routines set up for Math class by disussing what a mathematics community looks like and sounds like. They will also have the chance to review basic math skills by making mathematical observations.

Create a social contract using the tiger traits

What tigers are doing at school..

Brainstorm ideas in order to build a social contract that promotes a safe and friendly learning environment. Tigers will be introduced to the new behavior system.

Discuss the classroom activities done in class with your parents. Share with them about the expectations and new journey you are launching in.

Dear Families,

I'm thrilled to share that our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons for this academic year have come to a close. Reflecting on the journey we've embarked on together, I couldn't be prouder of the growth I've witnessed in your children. From mastering mindfulness techniques to navigating emotions with resilience, they've embraced every lesson with enthusiasm and openness. Witnessing their development in expressing empathy, managing conflicts constructively, and fostering positive relationships has been truly inspiring. Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing these essential skills at home. Here's to celebrating their progress and looking forward to further growth in the future.
