1st Grade News

Dear Tiger Parents,

Another amazing and golden week of classes in first grade. For our first graders, it’s a period of magical discovery as they develop alertness and observation skills like mathematicians using our ten frames and number rack to make combinations of 5 and 10 and increasing in developing problem solving skills that are crucial for decision making, critical thinking, and logical reasoning.

In writing, children begin to spread their wings in getting to know that writers have to be careful that their tiny seed stories do not grow into big watermelon stories. To keep them small, they start and end close to the main part of the story, then the main thing.

They’re feeling confident, independent, and eager to take on new challenges in every writing process, so our “Narrative Writing Books” are sharpening their perception of the world. During phonics, we were full of high quality strategies to study blends and diagraphs in names. In content, students’ faculty of comprehension is growing along with their capacities for understanding how our families are essential and a huge motivation to create memorable events in our lives. Thank you so much for your continued support.

All the best!
