Dear 5th grade families, We are excited about all the learning occurring with 5th graders already! We are sure we have a wonderful and meaningful year ahead of us!. We also want to remind you that students should be reading for 45 minutes on a daily basis and completing their reading logs. 5B starts swimming from Sept. 2nd, to Sept. 20th . Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Learning Goal
Readers will be: Revisiting a piece of writing about reading to help them to see more, and to raise the level of their own writing about reading even further. Learning to see more of significance in a book. Naming the problem that a character faces, and then thinking about the lessons the character may learn or what the author may want readers to know.
-Revise their own writing about reading. -Think and talk about the changes they have seen in themselves thus far.
-Think of an experience that was saturated with meaning.
-Be reminded to read alertly, not letting the details just pass by.
-Gather more evidence to support an idea or pushing themselves to see new possibilities. -Focus on one element of a story, like character, and use that to see more in a story as a whole.
Readers are encouraged to read daily for at least 45 minutes, and use their reading log to keep track of their reading volume and stamina.

Leer, analizar y entender el contenido de textos expositivos informativos.
Conocer la estructura y características de los textos expositivos informativos.
Continuar el Proceso de Escritura en la cración de Narrativas personales.
Editar y publicar la Narrativa Personal.
Los lectores y escritores leerán diferentes lecturas de textos expositivos informativos.
* Conocerán las características y la estructura de este tipo de textos.
* Analizarán el contenido de los textos leídos y establecerán comparaciones con otros textos estudiados.
* Revisarán su pieza de escritura para editar.
* Aprenderán y aplicarán las reglas ortográficas de acentución de las palabras en su escrito.
* Aprenderán y aplicarán los signos de puntuación. (La coma, el punto) en su escritura separando las oraciones simples y compuestas, y los párrafos.
* Publicarán la Narrativa Personal siguendo los parámetros de la escritura de narrativas.

Understand multiples and factors as they use partial products to solve multiplication problems.
Students will understand surface area and use efficient stategies to calculate it. Students will also understand multiples and factors they relate to multiplication as they use partial products to solve multiplications problems.

Students will explore their Intellectual Curiosity by creating their own experiment to explore a phenomena that is being introduced to them in a variety of ways.
Students will make a list of possible liquids, solids and mixtures they can use the following week. Students will also dive deeper on the importance of having a strong scientific question and will apply this into their projects.
Look for materials they need to do their science project about Structure and properties of matter.
Learning Goal
Discuss the importance of getting to know each other, and how finding commonalities and differences can help us understand and appreciate each other more.
Friends and learners will complete an activity to help the class get to know each other. Friends and learners will complete the activity by drawing or describing items that are important to them.
