English Literacy

Our 2nd grade Readers will review the readers workshop.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

2nd grade Readers will practice the reading workshop. We will read, choose and share books in many ways. We will understand how to take care of our Library and book bins. We will also asign readers with a partner. They will become Professors of Phonics and make use of phonics terms learned applying their knowledge to their names. As well, they will review phonics Blends which are 2 consonant sounds put together and found at the beginning or ending of words.

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Readers will practice reading books at home for 20 minutes independently. You can show others at home the three ways to read a book. For phonics, look for consonant blends in the books you read or words around you.
