Good Afternoon First Grade Families,
What a great group of kids we have this year in First Grade! We had a great week with Personalized Learning Appointments and two full days of school. Friendships are already forming as children explore and practice routines within the classroom. We started our new bridges unit, please review Unit 1 - Family Overview in order to get familiarized with the program. Students loved to meet our new friend Rasheed, who will be part of our phonics unit and will be joining us everyday in class. We encourage students to have a good breakfast as lunch time is until 10:40 am. Important Information: 1A started swimming on Thursday and will swim everyday until August 30th.
Find below our Tiger's Home base with more information about upcoming content for next week.
Learning Goal
Writing: Take time to generate ideas for "Small Moment stories" to capture ideas about a person you know, a place you go, or a thing you do.
Writing: Writers will start off the week learning that our own lives are full of stories to tell. We use these stories to plan the ones that we write, thinking about and idea, something they did, or something that happened to them.
Phonics: Readers and Writers will remember the importance of taking time to look at letters and sounds in names and all words by studying them closely to learn how words work. When writing they will want to remember a fast pathway for forming a letter.
Writing: Have your child tell you a story, something that happened at school or a birthday party, or even a memory you have shared together. Now take it a step further and have them write about it, use these writing pages to do so.
