4th Grade News

Dear Families,

Thank you for making sure your child comes to school on time each morning.

From 6:50 am to 7:00 am, our students have a space to practice previous learned knowledge and skills. This helps them consolidate new information and therefore grow as learners.

If your child misses school, please make sure they are still accountable for the work happening in class and as well at home. You can use this Weekly Letter and the HOMEBASE site as reference.

Our Essayists will continue finding evidence to support their ideas by selecting mini-stories, lists or quotes. In addition, they will be learning how to study literary essays to find structures for their own literary essays

Los lectores continuarán trabajando en el estudio del comportamiento de los personajes de sus libros de ficción, redactarán ensayos sobre los temas o las lecciones que aprendieron de los libros.

Practicar lectura y análisis de personajes en libros de ficción con sus libros favoritos, usando las herramientas aprendidas en el taller.

Mathematics

Learning Goal

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Students will build on what they learned about addition in module 1 as the focus shifts to subtraction. Problem string and story problems will help students deep in the grasp of subtraction strategies including difference versus removal and constant difference. Students will learn standard algorithms for subtraction and compare it to other strategies they have explored.
