Dear Kindergarten Families,
Thank you all who were able to attend our 1st Parent Workshop. Parent involvement is essential for your child's preparedness and developing a strong sense of belonging. This week in writing students were introduced to the writing workshop routine. In Spanish, they learned how to do private reading, reading with a partner and reading books cover to cover. In math, students began exploring with 5 frames, they started subitizing and learning new math vocabulary "How many cubes?, How many empty boxes? How many in all?". In phonics, they have been engaged in learning their friends' names and have learned that writers can say any word and hear the beats in it - the syllables.

Learning Goal
ELA: Students will learn routines and structure of the writer's workshop and writing process through drawings.
Phonics: Students are learning how to study a name.
ELA: Students are going to start their first writing unit " Launching the writing workshop", They are going to be call writers since day one, they are also going to learn that they can express themselves through drawing and that is also called writing.
Phonics: Students are learning how to trace new letters: S, R, D, T, F, I. They're making small books with those letters, drawing pictures that matches with the same sound. Lastly, they're comparing names that start with the same letter.
ELA: Writers can practice sharing what they love and then draw pictures at home, they can have this chart (that we are going to be using this during the week) display in their writing corner
Phonics: Students can practice writting theirs names and recognize some letter sounds.

Los lectores releen, notan y aprenden cosas nuevas
En esta semana los lectores releen su libros, observan todos los detalles, notan y aprenden cosas nuevas para compartirlas con un compañero, también estudianos nombre y sonido de la letras p,t,c y k.
En casa los lectores, pueden volver a releer su libro favorito notar y aprender cosas nuevas que todavía no habían visto para compartirlo con sus padres. Al mismo tiempo cuando esten con su libro favorito pueden buscar las letras que vamos a estudiar y reconocer su nombre y su sonido.

Students will discover relationships between small quantities visually.
Mathematicians will expand their previous work with numbers up to 10. Students will have the opportunity to count, order and compare numbers. They will begin to experiment with composing and decomposing.
Students can use differnet objects around the house to sort, count and compare.

Friends and learners will learn how to solve problems in an effective way
Friends and learners will learn how to solve problems with steps before their problem turns into a bigger problem, with important steps such as pausing to relax, talk with kind words, find solutions and try the solutions.
Friends and learners can practice at home the four steps of peace place when facing a problem: 1. Pause, 2. Talk, 3. Think, 4. Try.

Friday, August 30th is KA's last day for Swimming (Group D -> See Chart) On Monday September 2nd KB Starts Swimming, please have students wear their swimming suits under their uniform and send towel, goggles, swim caps, comb, and underwear in a swim bag. If your child is not swimming you need to send a medical excuse to jcastro@ans.edu.ni, notify the Primary School Office ansprimary@ans.edu.ni and CC the homeroom teacher.
