Dear Families,
It's been a productive and fun week! Students are working very hard on their informational books adding text features and expert words. In Math, they are using the number line to solve story problems. In Spanish they are applying strategies to become experts on reading nonfiction books. In phonics, they are using strategies to solve long and tricky words, and in social studies, they continue learning about symbols and their meanings. Thank you to the moms that came to make the fall festival crafts with the students. They really enjoyed it! Important: On Thursday Oct. 31st we are celebrating Halloween. Students can wear costumes and if you like also a change of clothes to change afterwards. We will be having a special activity with 4th grade. We will play a game and share snacks. Please send snacks for sharing with both classes.
Learning Goal
Writers write a nonfiction book for an audience including description to help readers picture the topic.
In Phonics, students are learning about reading words with double consonants in the middle and breaking words with the -le ending. Writing: Students in Writing class will be busy creating another Nonfiction book where they will keep the audience in mind, what they are interested in, what do they want to learn about?
Students at home will be writing a nonfiction book that is suitable for a specific audience, in our case for second graders. Keep in mind topics second graders like, and are interested to learn from. For phonics, practice reading and spelling these important words: better, follow, happen, different.
Learning Goal
(Ejemplos).
-Cartel de estrategias.
Learning Goal
Students will start the last module of unit 2. In this module they are identifying, describing and extending the counting- by-2s pattern, using a class-created chart. The activities in this module will provide opportunities to consider odd and even numbers in context, and also provide early exposure to the concept of multiplication as repeated addition.
Home Connections. Addition Strategies using the Number Line Have students solve the following equations using the number line: 56+10=; 39+11=; 58+ 12=
Learning Goal
Scientis will understand the important relationship between plants and animals.
Students will be introduced to the phenomena of how they see different bees, insects and birds collecting, eating and distributing seeds around campus.
Observe insects and birds at home or at the park.
