Dear Kindergarten Families,
Students continue to show amazing growth in all of their areas. In Reading, they are growing more independent, working on their private and partner reading skills. It’s exciting to see them dive into books and explore stories on their own and with a friend. In phonics, they turned into "word scientists," observing letters closely to determine whether they have straight lines, curves, or holes. In Math, they were introduced to a new workplace "Which Bug Will Win".
Today we are sending home the Friday Feedback folders. Please take some time to review your child's work and feedback. You may keep the work and feedback at home. Kindly return the folder on Monday.
Next week in content we will be starting a new unit called "Are All Rules Good Rules" students will be learning that rules help keep people safe and organized, but not all rules are the same, and some can change when they no longer respect or include everyone. By following and reflecting on rules, we can help our community grow in fairness and responsibility. To help bring these concepts to life, we kindly ask for your support in sending any action figures or materials related to community helpers (such as firefighters, police officers, doctors, etc.) that you may have at home. These will help the students further explore the importance of rules in keeping everyone safe and working together.
Thank you so much for your continued support in making learning fun and meaningful for your children!
Learning Goal
ELA: Readers can learn from the words ans share their own ideas.
Phonics: Students are developing skills by engaging in interactive activities that promote letter recognition and formation.
ELA: Readers are going to be learning that they can share their own knowledge about the world, and that the words and letters help us to learn even more, using the alphabet chart and name wall.
Phonics: students will engage in phonics activities by preparing an alphabet pocket chart with picture-letter cards for A, S, D, and G, alongside scattered picture-only cards around the classroom. Each student will receive a class alphabet chart to learn letter formation for the letter V. They will also participate in a "Name of the Day" activity and finish with a choral reading of the alphabet chart to reinforce their learning.
ELA: At home keep practicing reading stamina for 10 minutes.
Phonics: students can create a "Room Sound List." They will look around their room, find objects, and write down their names along with the starting sounds. For example, for a "book," they would write "B - book." They should aim for at least ten items and can share their lists with family members!
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Students continue working with numbers up to 10.
Mathematicians will continue to work their numbers up to 10. They will practice recognizing and matching numerals.
Students can practicing writing numerals from 0-10 and matching the number to an object. For example: Give them small objects (like counters, blocks, or beads) and have them count and match the objects to the correct numeral.
Learning Goal
Scientists will develop their observation skills by engaging all their senses in natural settings. This will enhance their ability to focus, pay attention to details, and collaborate in sharing their findings.
Scientists will enhance their observation skills in nature by engaging their senses. They will use their "tiger eyes" to spot moving objects, "tiger ears" to listen for sounds while blindfolded, and "tiger paws" to explore textures in the garden. Throughout this process, they will practice safety and discuss their findings with partners. Over the next two days, we will continue reinforcing these skills—slowing down, focusing on details, and using all their senses to become super observers!
Scientist can create a "Nature Detective Journal," where they document their findings from a backyard, drawing textures, noting sounds, and describing movements they observe, turning their explorations into a fun and interactive science project!
Learning Goal
Friends will learn the importance of being their best selves.
Friends will recognize their own emotions and those of others. They will connect emotions, thoughts, and actions.
Think about this questions at home and disscuss with your family. How do you feel when you do something kind for someone? What are your emotions, thoughts and actions? How can the other person feel, think and act?
