Dear Tiger Parents,
It's been another amazing and golden week of classes in first grade. For our first graders, it’s a period of magical discovery as they develop alertness and observation skills like mathematicians. Students enjoyed the challenges of “comparing two quantities to find the difference” and through games like “Cats and Mice” we have been increasing and developing problem-solving skills that are crucial for decision-making, critical thinking, and logical reasoning. In phonics, our kids explored unusual words like contractions, now apostrophes are their best friends because our students recognise key contractions and the corresponding words that go with them.
📝In writing, our tigers begin to spread their wings in getting to know about writing information books. They made several covers from some of the books they’ll write in the upcoming weeks. In other words, we are getting ready to write books like experts. That is why we need your collaboration:

Learning Goal
Writing: Students will write their first teaching book from start to finish. Phonics: Relate and apply what you know about contractions and compound words to edit writing and reinforce your detective skills.
Writing: Writers will practice teaching more by conversing about their topics with an imaginary hand friend. They will walk through the classroom with wands, and then use these topics to make several covers from some of the books they’ll write in the upcoming weeks. Phonics: Readers and writers will study that contractions are unusual words that are two words in disguise. They will look for compound words to fit together like puzzle pieces to make a new word.
Writing: Take a look at our anchor chart: How to Write a Teaching Book. Now think obout an object that means something to you, that you can write about to teach us something like an expert. Examples: rocks, leaves, shells or material related to a hobby. Phonics: Use what we practice about “Word detectives take an even closer look!” to read the book “I wonder”. Now from the book, get examples of silent e, vowel teams, double consonants, contractions or compound words.
Learning Goal
Learning Goal
Students will demonstrate an understanding that 2 digit numbers represent amounts of tens and ones.
Students will build numbers up to 50 using ten-trains and loose unifix cubes.
-Online Math games Place Value Basketball - Home Connection Unit 3 Module 3 Session 5 Add Ten facts Due Wednesday November 27
Learning Goal
Get ready to present the science project
Students will be working on the finishing touches of their projects. Scientists will get ready to present their model to their classmates.
Different types of nest. Watch the video and choose the most interesting nest for you. Draw it and write 3 interesting facts about it.
Learning Goal
Friends identify ways to include others in peer experiences
In this lesson, tigers will discuss scenarios in which someone is being excluded in order to consider how that person could be included.
Try playing a game like Jenga or doing something creative, like watercolor painting, with your family. Think about how you would feel if someone was left out of the fun and how do you feel when you are included.

📌 Help your child find one object to bring from home as well: This could be almost any small item that your child cares about, something that represents who they are and what they love or some material related to a hobby. The object needs to fit into a small lunch bag. The most important thing is that kids value their objects enough to want to tell others about them in their writing.
🎖Volunteers - Parents are invited to come and talk about something you are an expert on (Spanish or English): Experts -Sign up for 1st-grade A-B-
🚫 🦖No toys allowed: Please make sure that your child is not bringing any toys (cards, stuffed animals, etc.) in their backpacks.
