Dear Kindergarten Families,
This week, students began Unit 4 in Bridges "Paths to Adding, Substracting & Measuring". We are also sending home some Home Connections activities from our last unit. These activities provide an excellent opportunity for students to continue practicing and reinforcing their learning at home.
In Unit 4, students will engage in counting forward and backward between 0 and 50, order and compare numbers from 1 to 10, solve addition and subtraction problems within 10, compare objects to see which is longer, shorter, or the same length and add with pennies and nickels. For more information, please refer to the Unit Overview.
In Spanish Literacy, students celebrated the end of their reading unit with an exciting visit to the Pathways students, which made the conclusion of the unit even more memorable. As we move forward, the class will begin exploring the life and works of Rubén Darío as part of the Jornada Dariana.

Poema "Los insectos"
Learning Goal
We are learning to count and add numbers up to 20!
Playing "Read My Mind," where students practice guessing numbers between 0–20.
Exploring a new game called "Foxes & Dens," which helps us learn to add numbers by rolling two dice and counting on.
Working in our "Work Places" to practice math skills like counting, adding, and sorting with fun hands-on activities.
Practice counting to 20 and back to 0 together. Try using toys, snacks, or fingers to make it fun!
Play a dice game! Roll two dice, add the numbers, and see who can get the highest total.
Guess the number: Think of a number between 0–20, give clues like "It’s more than 5 but less than 10," and have your child guess.
Learning Goal
Students will learn to recognize and understand the differences between maps and globes, developing their ability to identify continents, countries, and basic geographic features. They will gain spatial awareness and explore how each tool represents the Earth in different ways.
Students explore geography through hands-on activities like the Globe and Map Race, where they compare maps and globes, and the Waze Car Adventure Game, simulating real-world navigation. They also create maps with Play-Doh and collaborate on a world map mural, learning about maps, globes, and digital tools like Google Maps.
"The Family Map": Children, with their families, create a simple map of their neighborhood or home, marking important places like their house, the park, or the store. They then locate their city on a globe or world map and share a place they'd like to visit, learning about geography in a fun and collaborative way.
Learning Goal
Standing up for the rights of myself and others
In this lesson, learners will gain understanding of what it meansto be fair. They will share ideas for how to respond with empathy and support others when unfair behaviors occur.
When unfair behavior occurs, point out the behavior and guide the kids involved in ways to resolve the issue.
