In Phonics, the 2nd graders worked on using syllables to tackle big words to decode and read them. They learned to divide words between 2 consonants, to never split a word between g and h and to look for the endings.

In Writing students will add text features and expert words to give more information to their writings and make it more interesting to their readers.

For phonics practice, in non fiction texts use the methodical strategies to break a word part by part from beginning to end to read new big words. Try it with these words: problem, lesson, signal, magnet, nocturnal, blossoming. At home for 

Writing think of a topic, create a plan with 3 chapters, write an informational book about something you are good at or know more about. Make sure you add expert words, and several text features.

Esta semana, los estudiantes inician el taller de lectura donde aprenderán a utilizar estrategias como la exploración de la portada, contraportada y tabla de contenido para activar conocimientos previos, así como la interpretación de palabras y gráficos, como imágenes, mapas y diagramas, para mejorar la comprensión y análisis del contenido.

• -Los lectores mientras leen se preguntan ¿Qué me quiere enseñar este libro?, ¿Qué sé sobre este tema?.

• -Hacen pausas para recordar la información importante de cada subtema y se preguntan, ¿Qué es lo más importante en esta parte?, ¿Qué palabras claves, me ayudan a conocer la idea principal de mi libro?, ¿Qué nueva información puedo contar ahora? ¿Què palabras encontrè que me ayudan a comprender mejor el tema?

Mathematicians will be using an open number line to model and solve story problems with 2- digit numbers using strategies like making jumps of 10, getting to a multiple of 10 and compensating.

Tigers continue to reflect on how symbols help people on our community to live and work together.

Create a Family Symbol: Encourage students to design a unique symbol or crest for their family, using colors, shapes, or images that reflect family values or traditions.

Friends will practice relaxation techniques in response to situations. We will discuss that strong emotions can make it hard to think clearly and take safe, kind, or useful actions.

Make a list with your family of relaxation stategies that you can use at home when you feel strong emotions.
