In Phonics, the students are working on the inflectional endings of -ed and -ing. They are learning that when a word ends with a silent e, the e is dropped and then the tail end is added to the word. 2nd Graders will be busy writing, reading and editing all kinds of Poems.

Students can practice adding the -ed and -ing endings to the following words: save, hope, love, bake, jump, live, tease, please, name. They should know that they can not add -ed to give, freeze or write. The words are gave, froze and wrote. Writers can create different poems, and be able to edit them.

Los estudiantes escriben opiniones sobre temas relacionados con su entorno. Utilizan estrategias de escritura, asegurándose de presentar de manera clara la idea principal, respaldadas con razones y escribiendo ejemplos específicos para fortalecer sus opiniones.

-Escritores en casa leen sobre un tema que les apasione.

-Escriben un diario de opiniones (cuaderno), sobre algo del mundo que les rodea. (Recordando que una opiniòn tiene una introducción, razones y una conclusión)

-Usan oraciones simples como guía: ("Yo opino que…", "Una razón es porque…", "También pienso que…", "Por eso creo que…").

-Utilizan conectores como ("porque", "también" y "por eso") para unir sus ideas.

-Escritores revisan su escritura, asegurándose de que escribieron una opinión, razones claras y si usaron conectores.
