In Phonics, the students have been learning how to spell troublesome words. They have been editing sentences using the appropriate punctuation and capitals. They even worked on using quotation marks when writing dialogue. Paying attention to punctuation when reading and writing helps to express the message. In Reading, students will read for longer periods of time and then practice with a reading partner how to retell the important elements of the stories.

In Phonics, try reading the Punctuation script with your child.

Next week, mathematicians will develop fluency with addition facts up to 20 using the number rack, bead strings and the number line.

Students will finalize their community projects, focusing on challenges and solutions, and present their findings to the class.

Encourage students to discuss with their family a challenge their community might face (e.g., traffic congestion, pollution). Together, they can brainstorm possible solutions.

Friends and Learners will participate in activities to find similarities between their friends and discuss the importance of getting to know each other and how finding commonalities and differences can help us understand and appreciate each other more. 

Friends and learners can think about questions with their families to get to know each other more and discover your differences and commonatilies. It could be ¿What is your favorite ice cream flavor? ¿What was your favorite subject in school? ¿What is your favorite sport?
