1st Grade News

Dear First Grade Families,

We have been learning so much throughout this week. Students are writing small moments stories with well developed characters . In Math, students have been using number racks to add and find missing addends. If you need to contact us, we are available through our emails. We are here to support your child to grow into independent and responsible learners.

Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

Take time to look at sounds and letters by studying them closely to learn new sounds and rules.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

PHONICS: Readers and writers will work together to make new sounds and also they will start seeing patterns in order to make rules about how words often work.

WRITING: Writers will tell and write their stories bit by bit making sure to add details like movement, speech, feelings and thoughts to bring their characters to life.

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

PHONICS: Use what we practice about letters and sounds to read the book “Which Pet Would You Get?”. Make sure to identify the sounds of  the letters that we are studying together.

WRITING: Have writers act out tiny moments of their day, make emphasis on the feelings movement and thought they had. What was said, who was there? Have them then write it down bringing the character to life.
