Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

What readers & writers are doing at school...

We are launching a new Writing Unit  where our students will read with more intensity, and we will equip them with tools they need to write expository essays that advance an idea about a piece of literature. We will start by teaching the value of  close reading of complex text by noticing details in a text such as the setting, objects, words, metaphors and characters selected by the author.

Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

We will learn to identify characteristics that we prefer friends to have and help us be good friends to others, and to make sure we include others who we might not know a lot about.

.

What friends and learners are doing at school...

We’ll discuss friendship. Friends are important throughout our lives, but what makes a good friend could change, in terms of personal characteristics and what we like to do with them for fun. Personal characteristics are things about a person that tell you what they are like as a person, such as funny, relaxed, and knowledgeable. For example, what personal characteristics should teachers have?

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

How can you include friends and others that you might not normally hang out with in your daily activities? How can you make sure you let others know you value them?
