Dear Third Grade Parents, 

Celebrate your readers' growth! Our third graders just celebrated the end of their reading unit by noticing all the skills that helped them to become a better reader in third grade. Our third graders will become writers by starting a new unit about how to write informational books.

 Mathematicians are starting to develop their thinking in multiplication by analyzing groups of stamps and their cost. They will be participating in their second and third forum, this time related to multiplication, to show the way they develop their strategies to a single problem.

Third graders will being the their writing unit by working on ana informational piece. They will use understand that they are writing about a topic that they can teach others. They wil also learn that there are different ways to organize their information wirting by using different text structures.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Los escritores revisarán , editarán y publicaran su narrativa personal. También podrán evaluar su pieza de escritura.

Mathematics

Learning Goal

Share their strategies to solve a single problem by participating on a multiplication math forum. 

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Mathematicians continue to deepen their understanding of multiplication. They are will be understanding the multiplication as a comparison, how they can use models to make multiples of 2-10. Also students will explore doubling, pratial produts and use 5s and 10 facts as strategies of the multiplication.

What tigers are doing at school...

Third graders will explore the concept of globalization through the lens of the inteconnectedness of societies. They will use information on the products' labels and will identify the countries of origin. In addition, students will use the world map to locate information and will share their information how globalization connects people from different parts of the world. 

What tigers could be doing at home...

Students will share their questions about globalization with their parents. They will record their parents' responses.

Discuss with students what makes their classroom a community and how everyone can be a part of a group.
