Social Emotional Learning Program
Learning Goal
This unit is “Learning From Each Other.” We will explore ways to learn from one another when we encounter problems or conflict with others. Conflict is a necessary part of life—it can even be positive and helpful. Conflict helps us realize that something needs to change; it can bring people closer together; and, it gives people the opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts with one another, letting us get to know others better. In this unit, we will learn different approaches to resolving interpersonal conflicts and a step-by-step problem-solving approach.
What friends and learners are doing at school...
Friends and learners will create 3 personal goals.
Classroom discussion about each of these points:
How do you learn from others?
What does “resolving a conflict” mean to you?
Do you think that understanding other people’s thoughts and feelings can help resolve conflicts together? Why or why not?
What friends and learners could be practicing at home...
