What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Sort the following words by their ending letters: house, bounce chase, juice, sense, voice, nurse, fierce.

Spanish Literacy

Learning Goal

Estudiantes exponen sus conocimientos a la audiencia como lectores expertos de un tema determinado.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Mathematics

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Students will be solving one step subtraction story problems within 100 involving comparing with unknowns in all positions. They will also skip count by 5s' and 10's within 1000. They will represent whole number differences from minuends up to 100 on a number line.

What mathematicians could be doing at home...

Science or Social Studies

Learning Goal

What tigers are doing at school...

Scientists will continue learning about the important relationship between plants and animals. They will examine the wide variety of animals that live in Nicaragua and the relationship that those animals have with the natural work around them, specifically looking at how they help plants by spreading pollen and dispersing seeds.

What tigers could be doing at home...

Students can make a drawing of the pollination process and explain it to their parents.

Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

Friends and learners identify fixed and growth mindset thoughts.

Friends and learners turn thoughts from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

Friends and learners gain an understanding of how having a growth mindset changes thoughts, feelings, and actions.

What friends and learners are doing at school...

Learners learn the difference between worm thoughts and caterpillar thoughts, and understand how caterpillar thoughts help them develop and maintain a growth mindset and believe they can change, learn, and grow over time. Then through a collaborative activity where children listen to opinions and discuss a situation and identify whether it is a caterpillar thought or a worm thought.

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

When children present an academic challenge, invite them to use caterpillar thoughts.
